The Delegation Of The Middle Class Association Visited The United States
From April 27 to May 6, Li Guimei, President of China Industrial Textile Industry Association, led an industry delegation to visit the United States. During their stay in the United States, the delegation visited IDEA25, TTNA2025, Hills Magnera, Uniquetex, North Carolina State University Nonwovens Institute (NWI) and Georgia Tech School of Materials Science and Engineering communicated with Yu Fang, Counsellor of the Commercial Office of the Chinese Embassy in the United States, Tony Fragnito, President of the American Nonwovens Association, Murat Dogru, General Manager of the European Nonwovens Association and other leaders. Lin Lin, president of China Printing and Dyeing Industry Association, visited and investigated together. The delegation members came from the Textile Industry Branch of China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, Tianjin University of Technology and upstream and downstream enterprises in the industrial textile industry chain.
On April 29, IDEA25, an important industrial fabric and nonwovens and processing equipment exhibition, opened in Miami, attracting more than 600 exhibitors around the world, with exhibits covering medical care, wiping, filtering, transportation, geotechnical construction, clothing and other fields. Li Guimei was invited to attend the opening ceremony of the exhibition, made a report on the current situation and sustainable development of China's nonwoven industry at the exhibition forum, and visited Chinese exhibitors such as Dalian Ruiguang, Jinsanfa Group, Robust Medical, Zhejiang Wangjin, Jiangsu Yingyang, Dalian Huayang, Shandong Yongxin, Sunshine Healthcare Technology, Beijing Dayuan, etc, Communicate with the person in charge of the enterprise about the U.S. market and the impact of tariffs on the enterprise's expansion of the U.S. market.
During the exhibition, President Li Guimei held tripartite talks with Tony Fragnito, President of the American Nonwovens Association, and Murat Dogru, General Manager of the European Nonwovens Association, focusing on the development of the global nonwovens industry after the epidemic, the impact of tariffs on the global nonwovens supply chain, and the development of the nonwovens industry in their respective regions, and discussed the cooperation of important projects.
During their stay in the United States, the delegation of CMA visited Hills, North Carolina State University Nonwovens Institute (NWI), Statesville of Magnera, Uniquentex, and Georgia Tech School of Materials Science and Engineering.
Founded in 1971, Hills is a famous multi-component fiber spinning technology innovation enterprise, committed to the design, development and manufacture of fiber spinning equipment. The company can manufacture 2-5 component fiber spinnerets, and 3-component spinnerets can produce different colors, even make the cross section appear letters, with rich spinning and melting solutions.
North Carolina State University Nonwovens Institute (NWI) It is an important research institution in the nonwoven industry in North America, which undertakes the functions of cultivating students, professional training, product development and testing, enterprise research and development projects, and small batch production. It adopts a unique membership system, members drive core research, and provides a new generation of nonwoven solutions for key task challenges through the "open innovation" operating platform.
Magnera is a new company established after the original Berry medical, health and special materials global nonwoven and film business was split and merged with Glatfelter. It is the world's largest nonwoven company, covering 14 processes, 7 brands of consumer goods and personal care business. Cui Yanzhao, the production leader and China leader of Magneta, introduced the company's development history, key businesses, and the similarities and differences of nonwoven industry between China and the United States in detail, and shared insights on some application markets.
Uniquetex is a nonwoven company invested by Chinese enterprises in the United States. It was put into operation in 2018. At present, it operates five spinning and melting nonwoven production lines, which can produce high-quality nonwoven materials in household goods, industrial goods, sanitary products, medical supplies and special technology fields. The delegation had in-depth exchanges with Deng Weixiong, President of Uniquetex, and Jian Jiajing, President of Taiwan Nonwovens Trade Association of China, on topics such as the impact of tariffs on the industry and non-woven enterprises' investment in the United States.
Georgia Institute of Technology is a well-known engineering college in the United States. The predecessor of the School of Materials Science and Engineering is the Textile Institute established in 1897. Professor Christopher Muhlstein, vice president of the School of Materials Science and Engineering, introduced the development of the School and the operation mode of its multiple interdisciplinary scientific research systems and multiple innovation systems, especially the participation and benefit mode of enterprises. Professors PARK, Jacob and Yao Donggang of the college shared with the delegation on intelligent wearability, polymer and fiber processing, polymer simulation and other topics respectively.
On May 6 local time in the United States, the 2025 North American International Industrial Textiles Exhibition (TTNA) was held in Atlanta. This exhibition attracted more than 300 enterprises from 20 countries and regions. During this period, the sponsor also organized Tech Talks and professional seminars to provide visitors with a platform for communication and interaction within the industry.
During the exhibition, the delegation of China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) and representatives of TTNA Chinese exhibitors jointly attended the symposium convened by Yu Fang, Counsellor of the Commercial Office of the Chinese Embassy in the United States, and Zhao Jianying, Deputy General Representative of CCPIT's Representative Office in the United States. At the symposium, enterprise representatives introduced the impact of tariffs on their respective businesses, as well as current responses and suggestions. Li Guimei mainly introduced the operation of the industrial textile industry, trade with the United States, and the impact of high tariffs on imports and exports. Li Guimei said that the two exhibitions coincided with the trade war launched by the United States, but Chinese enterprises still maintained a high enthusiasm for participation; Chinese enterprises attach importance to the American market and actively maintain the relationship with American customers. American customers and industry organizations also believe that Chinese products have strong advantages in quality, cost and response speed. Chinese industrial textiles and nonwovens are an important part of the supply chain of related industries in the United States. High tariffs have adverse effects on related industries in both China and the United States. She said that under the strong leadership of the Party and the government, the industry will work together and calmly to address various challenges and risks through scientific and technological innovation, product development, diversified development and other ways. In his speech, Counselor Yu Fang analyzed the context of the current development of Sino US relations and the trend of the global trade pattern. He hoped that the textile industry should pay attention to industrial security in its development, and suggested that enterprises should respond to trade barriers through diversified products and markets. After the conference, we visited the exhibition together and communicated with Chinese and foreign exhibitors.
