"Mulberry trees grow on slopes, and people live with water." For more than 30 years, the sericulture industry in Chengguan Town, Kangxian County, Gansu Province has established communication and cooperation between small farmers and large markets, laying a solid foundation for rural revitalization.

"I don't have any special skills. I can only do some chores at home. Now I can make money in the Sangyuan Base at our door." Wan Caixia, a villager in Goujiaba Village, Chengguan Town, Kang County, said with a smile.

Pieces of mulberry fields and baskets of cocoons have raised the "money bags" of silkworm farmers, which has also brought more employment opportunities for the surrounding villagers and made this land glow with new vitality.

"Last year, the price of cocoons was good, and my family raised 10 silkworms and sold them for 30000 yuan. This year, I plan to raise more." At the cocoon acquisition site of Kangxian County Jiafang Sericulture Development Co., Ltd., the mulberry farmers smiled at each other with the purchase list of fresh cocoons.

Kangxian County Jiafang Sericulture Development Co., Ltd. is an enterprise integrating high-tech and traditional sericulture industry. It has built a modern sericulture industry demonstration base of more than 1200 mu, a sericulture shed and a processing workshop of 5000 square meters, 6 farmers' professional cooperatives and 2 family farms, driving 300 sericulture farmers around to increase their income and become rich.

"Now, I don't have to pay the rent of the site myself, and I can also receive the dividends from the company to our cooperative, which solves my previous worries, and this year I can be relieved to expand the scale." Farmer Zheng Xueping said confidently.

In recent years, Chengguan Town of Kang County has combined the development of sericulture industry with the promotion of rural revitalization, adopted the development model of "mulberry planting+sericulture farming", and used the linkage mechanism of "enterprise+village collective+cooperative+farmers" to constantly develop and promote the improvement of sericulture industry quality and efficiency. It is reported that in 2024, nearly 300 farmers from 5 villages in Chengguan Town, Kangxian County will participate in mulberry planting and silkworm rearing, which will lead to nearly 80 jobs. The town has more than 2000 mu of mulberry gardens, 800 silkworm eggs, 44 tons of fresh cocoons and 14 tons of silk. The per capita income of sericulture farmers has increased by more than 1200 yuan.
