Overseas students returned to Haining to set up a tanning factory for leather making. This is the first enterprise with modern industrial significance in the history of leather industry in Haining. It is also one of the earliest tanning enterprises in China.
Haining leather museum displays the technological development, historical evolution of leather products and the development of leather industry in the world through a large number of text and picture materials and physical exhibits.
