A 1003% import tax is imposed to protect domestic footwear.

However, the terms of the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), which came into effect in January 1, 1994, stipulate that the Chinese footwear products enjoy duty-free treatment in the United States. China's use of the "triangle strategy" has made Mexico lose its role after a few years.

Armando Martiduenas Martin Due as, the former president of Mexico Footwear Industry Association (CICEG), made every effort to ensure that the free trade agreement reached a true sense of fairness and tried to avoid the indirect subsidy footwear products from China to enter the Mexico market through its channels to protect the local industry in Guanajuato. China imports footwear products to provide production licences to ensure that imported products are "harmless" rather than technical contraband covered by some publicity forms, because this product will make any same product in Mexico uncompetitive in the domestic market.

Recently, Ysmael L PEZ PEZ Garc a, chairman of the Guanajuato footwear industry association of Mexico (CICEG), has asked the Minister of economic affairs of Mexico to announce the agreement and obligations of the footwear industry signed by the Chinese Mexico Government.

At the end of March, the Minister of economic affairs of Mexico reached an agreement with the Chinese government and the Chinese shoemaking department.

Establishing management and control mechanism

So that China's footwear products will be exported without threatening the production of footwear products in Mexico.

The agreement is the result of the Mexico footwear industry striving to solve the problems faced by China's imports.

"In the last meeting with China, the shoe industry in China requires a month to issue production licenses, so since May 1st, their export products must comply with the certification requirements issued," Ysmael L PEZ Garc a said.

He emphasized that the delivery time of China's footwear products to Mexico must be considered.

"We believe that the first shipment will arrive in the next few days," he explained. "Now the government should ask for new certifications for these upcoming goods."

He pointed out that the promise of China's footwear industry is to set up a permit, and it is an obligation rather than a matter of arbitrary decision.

As for the damage caused by the import of Chinese footwear products to Mexico's local footwear industry, L PEZ Garc a a commented: "we hope that this damage will not increase again, as this will remind us of what happened in March, and the import rate increased by 148% in the same month compared with that in March."

L PEZ PEZ Garc A. concluded that the chairman of the Mexico Footwear Industry Association (CICEG) reiterated that he would continue to ask Mexico officials to attach "the commodities signed from China to"

Production license

The agreement is monitored.

"The industry must ensure that things are going well to maintain their growth and competitiveness."
