Moderator: Yu, would you like to introduce the characteristics of collagen and the current use of collagen in textiles?


Yu Changsong: collagen is a spiral fibrous protein twisted by three peptide chains. It exists in animal body. It has a strong quick water absorption. Its own three glue spiral structure can firmly lock moisture and give skin a long time of moisturizing and nursing effect.

At the same time, collagen is rich in 18 kinds of amino acids, high nutritional value and strong function. It is a good natural physiological active substance. At present, it is mainly used in cosmetics (external application) and health care products (oral), and its use in textile and clothing is relatively rare.

Foreign countries such as the United States, Germany and Japan, Korea and other countries use collagen fabric made of fabrics and clothing have been put on the market, and have been welcomed by consumers.

Collagen softeners for textile fabrics have also been released, representing products such as Japan's TASTEX SKU-C and Korean BOOWON BOO TEC cl-collagen.


Moderator: at present, only a few countries in the world use collagen on textiles, is it because it is technically difficult?


Yu Changsong: there are several factors.

On the one hand, the demand for green textiles in developed countries has promoted the research of textile environmental protection auxiliaries and their technology. On the other hand, the application of collagen to textile fabrics is technically difficult, as well as the level of economic development and the habit of consumption.


Collagen fibers can be prepared by wet spinning. The fabric and clothing made of this fiber or its blended fiber retain some of the properties of natural collagen. Therefore, collagen has good affinity with human skin, and has strong moisture retention and comfortable clothing.

However, collagen fibers are easy to degrade in higher temperature solutions, and their spinnability is poor. The resulting textiles have poor strength, hot water resistance, acid and alkali resistance and poor dry heat performance, which are difficult to meet the requirements of application, and their application and popularization are affected.


Collagen can be used as functional assistant and added to fabric.

However, there is a certain difference between the handle and silicone softener treatment, and the durability of collagen containing proteins usually decreases with the increase of washing times.

Moderator: it is understood that the fabric developed by Donghua Textile Group is made of collagen softener, and its water absorbency is: after treatment, the fabric has a wool effect of >10cm/30min, moisture retention: fiber moisturizing degree >400%, softness: reaching the conventional soft finishing feel, durability: washing up to 20 times, safety: pH value 4 ~ 7.5, formaldehyde content less than 75mg/kg, harmful metal content conforming to the corresponding national standard GB/T18885-2002 (ECO textile technical requirements), wearability: conform to the national standard of GB/T 8878-2002 "cotton knitted underwear", to achieve these technical indicators, what breakthroughs have been achieved in the key technologies of the company?


Yu Changsong: our company has been working with South Korea Fuyuan Biotechnology Co., Ltd. since 2007 to develop collagen softeners and fabric finishing items.

Now we have focused on solving three technical problems.


The first is the ecology of colored cotton fabrics.

Pretreatment technology.

Because natural coloured cotton contains a lot of organisms such as cotton wax, ash and pectin, it is necessary to deal with the common organisms and impurities of colored cotton cellulose under the premise of ensuring the color and performance of the colored cotton, so as to ensure that the collagen finishing agent can infiltrate into the colored cotton fabric very well.


The two is to solve the problem of poor adsorption fastness of collagen.

Collagen is composed of a variety of amino acids. It has two affinity characteristics of hydrophilic and lipophilic. Although it can be adsorbed onto the fabric through molecular force between fibers, it is not resistant to washing. Its hydrophilic and moisturizing effect will be greatly reduced after several washing.

In order to solve the problem of poor adsorption fastness, we use nano scale binding agent to penetrate into the fiber deeply, and bind tightly with the fibers through cross-linking reaction, so that the carboxyl groups extending to the fiber surface can absorb water and protect skin.

After proper molding process, the function can be washed 20 times without failure.


Three, based on the use of the collagen cl-collagen solvent of South Korea Fuyuan Biotechnology Co., Ltd., in cooperation with the Korean Macquarie Biological Development Co., Ltd., the ratio and finishing process of collagen softener were further improved, and the stable collagen softener soaking, rolling, drying, shaping process, process plan and technological parameters were optimized.

Yu Changsong: first of all, we start with biological enzyme pretreatment for colored cotton, which is the production process of independent intellectual property rights of the company.

Using the high efficiency and mild characteristics of biological enzyme, the colored cotton fabric is treated, and the colored cotton co organisms are effectively removed. This not only causes little damage to cotton fibers, but also does not reduce the color depth, which provides technological guarantee for subsequent processing.


We then chose cl-collagen collagen softener, which was extracted from the Korean sterile white skin pig, eliminating the worry that the additives contained harmful substances.

A certain proportion of auxiliaries is used, and the conventional method of rolling is used to make the fabric get enough liquid carrying rate after the absorption of a certain concentration of collagen solution. After a certain speed, the fabric can be firmly adsorbed onto the fabric by the heat setting of long vehicle, so that it has the effect of moisturizing and skin care.


Host: what is the level of this technology at home and abroad?


Yu Changsong: the technology and products of this project have filled the gap in China, and the research level and technical indicators are in the leading position in China. The samples have been tested by Fiei E-Testing Center and Reach Center For Bioresource And Health in South Korea.

Through our efforts and the cooperation of relevant departments, the Institute of pharmaceutical research of the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences and the three glue product quality supervision and testing center of China light industry can provide testing services for our products.

Moderator: has the color cotton underwear made by this technology been listed? How much is the annual output? What is the price and market positioning?


Yu Changsong: underwear made of cellulose fiber made of collagen softener and its finishing technology and made of cellulose fiber has been listed in small quantities in the winter of 2009, totaling about 15000 sets.

Some spring and summer products have been developed in 2010, and winter products in 2010 will be put into the market in large quantities in September.

It is estimated that the output will be around 200 thousand sets, including 50 thousand sets of high-end products and mid end products, about 100 thousand sets of popular products, and the price will be distributed in the range of 200~800 yuan to meet the needs of different consumption groups and consumption levels.
