Since September 2008, the number of newly opened shops on Taobao has been nearly 20 per month, compared with the number of shops opened in the first half of 2008, an increase of more than 60%.

Analysts say this is consistent with the financial crisis's impact on China's real economy. After the Olympic Games, the global financial crisis began to have a substantial impact on China's economy, and enterprises were laying off workers and reducing wages. This stimulated more people to try to open shop online, which was both a money making subsidy and a need to prevent unemployment.

More than 5000 people open shop every day, Taobao data show that online entrepreneurship has become a trend. More than 5000 people open Taobao stores every day, compared with the number of stores opened in the first half of 2008, the growth rate is over 60%.

In the Taobao venture population, there are both white-collar workers who are unemployed due to the financial crisis and the factories that have lost their jobs. There are also graduating students who are avoiding the job hunting single log bridge and opening up the path of online entrepreneurship. There are 70 generation people who have a small career and a lot of Internet start-ups. They also have the first 80 and 90 years of Maolu and vigorous enterprises.

According to statistics, the proportion of new sellers composed of white-collar workers and middle and high level companies increased significantly at the end of 2008, from less than 1% to more than 3% now, and most of these sellers were distributed in coastal and other export dependent economic regions.

Under the pressure of reality, they first took the Noah's Ark.

More and more people have been trying to open online stores under the pressure of the financial crisis. They have sold the idle goods purchased on the Taobao when they are well-off, and have accumulated experience in setting up shop online.

Online shops are now a place for them to earn pocket money, and the future is a way to save lives.

However, a senior online shop seller told reporters that the more than 5000 new people who join the company every day need to be persistent if they want to survive on Taobao, because "laziness" is an important reason why many online stores can't keep up.

The online store saves half of the marketing cost. When the companies are laying off workers and reducing their salaries, according to the latest data released by Taobao yesterday, the annual turnover of Taobao in 2008 was 99 billion 960 million yuan, compared with 43 billion 300 million yuan in 2007, an increase of 131% over the same period last year, which is equivalent to the average consumption of 80 yuan per Chinese in Taobao in 2008.

According to IDC, a leading international consultancy, the first thing to start online is low cost.

According to IDC estimates, Taobao saves 445 million yuan for sellers every month.

At the same time, the inventory and logistics costs of online stores are also greatly reduced.

Compared with traditional logistics, online stores reduce pport costs by 60% and 30% of pportation time.

In addition, the marketing cost of Taobao online stores is reduced by about 55% compared with the traditional offline stores, and the channel cost can be reduced by 47%.

For example, the total cost of selling clothes in traditional channels is 100 yuan, while the total cost in Taobao shops is about 84 yuan.

Even if Taobao shopkeepers sell ten percent off of the traditional cost price, that is, 90 yuan, they still get 6 yuan profit.

If the traditional channel wants to get the same profit, the selling price is 106 yuan.

That is to say, consumers can only buy 106 yuan to buy goods, only 90 yuan on Taobao can buy, consumers save 16 yuan, while Taobao shopkeepers can also get 6 yuan profit.

So many people choose Taobao as a winter cotton padded jacket.

Besides, with the increasing number of Taobao shops, not only a few of them have solved the employment problem, but also bring employment in related industries such as animal flow, finance, marketing and so on.

IDC, an internationally renowned consultancy, found that every person who started shop in Taobao would drive employment opportunities in 2.85 related industries.

The IDC report shows that as of the end of 2008, Taobao will create 437 thousand of the direct employment opportunities, and will generate 1 million 245 thousand of the indirect jobs, creating 1 million 680 thousand jobs for the society.
