Mule Town is located in the east of Guiping City. The textile and clothing industry is the traditional competitive industry of Mule Town. In 2016, the town won the title of "China's Famous Leisure and Sports Clothing Town" issued by the China Textile Federation and the China Garment Association. It is reported that the clothing industry of Mule Town will produce 7.46 billion yuan (RMB, the same below) in 2023, with a total population of 78000, including nearly 50000 migrant workers weaving dreams of life here.

In the early 1980s, every household in Mule Town started a clothing business. There are small folk stalls in Mule Town that integrate cutting, cutting and sewing, and use bicycle clothes. By the mid-1980s, sewing production cooperatives had been set up to shift from mending clothes to ready to wear clothes, attracting merchants from Yulin, Liuzhou, Nanning and Guangdong's "shoulder pole team" to receive goods.

Liu Datian, who lives in Mule Town, Guiping City, Guigang, Guangxi, recalled that he once saw the "carrying pole team" merchants carrying carrying poles to look for ready to wear clothes from door to door. If there were goods in stock, the merchants immediately "stepped out" and left contentedly after putting them in bamboo baskets.

In the early 1990s, the residents of Mule Town found that there was a lack of leather products in the market, so they bought back the raw materials across regions. They used household pedal sewing machines and household scissors to shift from repairing clothes to producing ready to wear clothes. They started making leather clothing, windbreaker, casual pants and other products, and tasted the "sweetness" of the clothing industry.

Until around 2000, more than 100 garment enterprises had emerged in Mule Town, gradually establishing production bases, training skilled workers, and forming a garment production and sales market with a certain production scale; The clothing industry has also officially become the main industry of Mule Town, known as the "emerging town of clothing".

"If you want to get something from buying cloth, tailors should have good eyesight and fast hands. If you don't have enough people to make clothes, the whole family will go to war. I will use my own pedal sewing machine when I am under ten years old," said Liu Datian.

It is understood that since the development of Mule Town, from spinning, weaving, printing and dyeing to embroidery, rib weaving, elastic belt production, to design and sales, a complete industrial chain has been realized, making production, supply and sales seamless. "Mule produces whatever the market needs."

As the largest and hottest clothing wholesale market in China, Guangzhou has become the best sea area to capture business opportunities. One group after another of Mule people went on and opened stalls in Shahe Street according to the gourd painting ladle. Many kinds of samples were placed in stores, waiting for home inquiries from domestic and foreign buyers.

The continuous flow of people and rising orders all indicate that coming to Guangzhou is the "most correct choice". At that time, the whole clothing industry of Mule did not focus on categories, and it belonged to diversified production. Through the analysis of business customer inquiry data, it is surprising to find that sportswear is the category with the largest demand.

Mule produces whatever the market needs. Following this typical logic of supply and demand, enterprises and factories in Mule Town have begun to focus on the production of sports clothes such as basketball clothes and football clothes, which are accurately linked to the national market and even sold to Germany, Italy and other countries.

Successful transformation from family workshop mode to intelligent all-round development

Walking into Mule Town, beside the main road, a clothing processing enterprise is carrying out production in an orderly manner. A worker in the digital workshop skillfully started the machine, and the cloth printed with the clothing style was slowly spread under the transmission of the machine. A "buzz" sounded, and the laser pen cut the cloth along the style side line according to the predetermined procedure.

"Now, we have turned from pursuing product quantity to becoming a brand factory, and under the transformation, we have improved the quality several grades to win the favor of customers at home and abroad. In 2019, the annual output will reach 3 million sets, accounting for half of the domestic and foreign sales, and the sales will be 75 million yuan."

Guiping Textile and Garment Industrial Park has invested 7.5 billion yuan and is expected to be completed by 2025

It is reported that Guiping Textile and Garment Industrial Park has a total planning of 15000 mu, which will be officially launched in May 2020. The total investment of the project is 7.5 billion yuan, which will be constructed in three phases. At present, the Phase I start-up area is under construction and is expected to be basically completed by the end of 2025.

Centering on three major development paths, the park has laid out a whole industrial chain of textile and clothing with four major sectors, ten major functions and 21 sub industries, and built industrial chains such as research and development centers, testing centers, fabric production, dyeing and finishing, clothing accessories, clothing processing, clothing trade, smart logistics, comprehensive services and infrastructure.

The "five supplies and one leveling" in the first phase of the park's start-up area has been basically completed. The 160000 square meters of standard factory buildings in the first phase are expected to be completed and put into use this year. The supporting projects of the park's "eight ones" - commercial complex, party masses service center, affordable rental housing community, primary school, kindergarten and phase II standard factory buildings are accelerating. By the end of May, a total investment of 830 million yuan had been completed in the construction of the park.
