Meidu News reported on May 21 that the Indonesian Ministry of Industry said that the textile industry was worried that imported goods would occupy a major position in the market, because the import restrictions were relaxed by the Order of the Minister of Trade on August 8, 2024, and technical approval was no longer required. The reason why textile industry participants are worried is that there are no relevant regulations on textile commodity import. According to the data of the Central Bureau of Statistics, the textile and clothing industry in the first quarter of 2024 grew by 2.64% year on year. Foreign demand for textile and clothing products also increased, with textile products up 7.34% year on year and clothing up 3.08% year on year. Therefore, the cancellation of technical approval may directly affect the sustainability of the textile industry.
