Women Who Pursue Career Development: Raise Their Heads From The Case Of Work.

Nowadays, women work harder than ever before.

A Pew survey in 2011 found that women worked nearly 60 hours a week, and in addition to paid jobs, they had to do housework and take care of their children, Pugh Survey.

Female executives usually spend as much time on work as they do.

In the fiercely competitive industry, working 60 to 70 hours a week has gradually become the norm.

For most women, this is both good news and bad news.

On the one hand, in the past 20 years, women's progress in the workplace has been progresses by leaps and bounds. The labor force participation rate of women has doubled, and the education level of young women entering the workplace is generally higher than that of men.

On the other hand, although women have made progress in the workplace, their influence on the top of the company is still very weak. Only 14.6% of top management positions are held by women.

These statistics obscure a more realistic problem: women tend to spend more time doing things and spend less time socializing.

And this is not a small problem.

In today's market, social skills have become the key to success in career.

Passion for social networking can sometimes be seen as an expression of too much desire to climb up.

For female leaders, they need to be equal or better in performance than men, so many women leaders assume that they do not have time to socialize.

But now, deciding on leadership is not only the time you spend in front of the computer, but also more and more, including your social skills, how you absorb external views, and how you lead the team forward.

Social networking takes time, but it is important.

Men can understand this concept in the workplace.

Business travel, sports, industry meetings or after work social gatherings, though properly understood as ways to cultivate friendships among men, are also important ways to accumulate career capital.

Therefore, it is reasonable for women to hate men's golf clubs or men's Golf trips.

Workplace women

There will be another challenge.

For many women, the perplexing balance between work and life is of paramount importance.

They are busy with business and family affairs, but do not want to reduce the time spent on family or personal interests.

The result is that social activities are shelved.

The same is true in social networking: a survey of the use of social networks in different sexes has found that more women use Facebook, Tumbler, Instagram and Twitter.

Among Pinterest users, women account for the majority.

On the contrary, more men will use LinkedIn, an online professional social networking site.

Women are missing opportunities.

Social activities can not only increase business opportunities inside and outside the company, but also create space for women, soften the professional boundaries through personality traits, and make the workplace more effective for women.

Initiative

Clear the way.

Women can also find examples and business leaders rarely seen in the office through social activities.

Most importantly, social connections and professional social interaction will make our work more interesting and more lasting.

In addition, ignoring social interaction will affect women.

Occupation

Adverse effects.

Joanna Barth of McKinsey & Company said that the lack of opportunities for women to engage in informal networking is a structural obstacle to their career development. (McKinsey Co)

Like lack of tutors or proper guidance and training, it will affect career development.

Fortunately, there are more and more opportunities to engage in social activities.

Nonprofit research institutions, such as Catalyst, UPWARD of the technology industry, and Anita Borg Institute (Anita Anita), are committed to expanding formal and informal social activities. Their real purpose is to enhance the links between women in the workplace.

Women will soon understand that every meal, even in an office cafeteria, should be an opportunity to share ideas, cultivate new friendships and consolidate relationships.

Besides, women should also be aware that the worst thing to do when attending a meeting is to return to their room immediately and finish work.

In business travel, you can get to know other people.

Moreover, this kind of social activity is not just a place to distribute business cards: women can find career advice here, find money for start-ups, or listen to others sharing her experience in high level.

Do not think that the time spent on social interaction will affect work efficiency.

Data from International Data Corporation and McKinsey Global Institute show that 28% of our working time is spent on reading, deleting, classifying and sending e-mail, and 19% is used for searching and collecting information.

Therefore, more women should leave their desks and walk out of the office.

The core of leadership is to share experience, contact with others, and learn from the inside and outside of the company.
