Introduction Of Eco Textile Certification Standards

The certification standard was developed jointly by the Haines Institute of Austria and the Textile Research Institute of Germany. It is the most authoritative and most widely used eco textile label in the world.

The product with the certification of "eco textiles" is the highest safety product in textiles.

The key to such eco textiles is to control harmful dyes such as harmful dyes.

Heavy metals, finishing agents, peculiar smell and other harmful substances.

Scope of application: this standard prohibits and limits textiles containing the following harmful substances: 1. azo dyes; 2. carcinogenic and sensitizing dyes; 3. formaldehyde; 4. pesticides; 5. chlorophenols; 6. chlorinated benzene and toluene; 7. extractable heavy metals; 8. color fastness; 9.ph value; 10. infant products in ortho benzene two formate; 11. organic tin compounds; 11. organic volatile gas; 11. odor; bioactive products and flame retardant materials; 15.pfos, pfoa.

The eco textile certification standard divides textiles into four levels:

Level 1: baby products (textiles used by children under 3 years old);

Level second: direct contact with skin products;

Class third: no direct contact with skin products;

Grade fourth: decorative materials (carpet, wallpaper, Simmons, etc.)

In January 2001, the State Environmental Protection Administration approved and began implementing the "eco textiles" standard. Ecological textiles should meet the following technical requirements:

Products should not be treated with chlorine bleaching.

2. Products must not be mildew proof and finishing.

Products should not be added pentachlorophenol or four chlorophenol.

4. The product must not be mildew, gasoline or toxic aroma.

Products should not be used to decompose toxic aromatic amine dyes, carcinogenic dyes and dyes that may cause allergies.

The content of formaldehyde, extractable heavy metals, pH value of leach liquor, color fastness and pesticide retention should meet the requirements.

Warm reminder: human skin surface is generally weak acid, in order to prevent the invasion of germs.

Therefore, the pH value of textiles is controlled by neutral and weak acidity (ph:4.0-7.0), which is harmless to human health.

On the surface, color fastness does not seem to concern the ecological problems of textiles. In fact, enzymes in human sweat and saliva can promote dyestuff decomposition and cause harm to the human body.

Therefore, underwear should be made with no dyed or dyed fabrics.

Natural fibers will inevitably encounter diseases and insect pests in the growth process and use insecticides.

It has been found that there are 22 kinds of insecticides which can cause various hazards to human body. Therefore, the residues in textiles must be strictly controlled.

The limit value of formaldehyde for infants and toddlers is 20ppm, while the formaldehyde limit value for products directly exposed to skin, such as bedding, underwear, shirts and loose blouses, is 75ppm.

And household ornaments (tablecloth, decorative fabrics, curtains, furniture, mattress) formaldehyde content is only less than 300ppm.

It can be compared to an apple whose formaldehyde content is at least 20ppm. cosmetics, and formaldehyde is used as a preservative.

Products such as mouthwash must be announced if the formaldehyde content exceeds 100ppm.

According to the law, the formaldehyde content of textiles must be stated if 1500ppm or higher.
