Clothing for children under three years old must meet Class A standards

In 2011, the revised version of the National Technical Code for Basic Safety of Textile Products was officially issued, and after a one-year transition period, it was fully enforced on August 1 this year.

In the new national standard, formaldehyde content, PH value, odor and other related indicators are strictly defined, and the number of harmful substances under control has increased from 23 to 24. The new national standard divides children's clothing into three levels: A, B and C. Among them, Class A clothing can be worn by infants, Class B clothing can be worn close to the body, and Class C clothing can only be worn.

In the new standard, the age limit of infant textiles applicable to children is also changed from the original "textile products used by infants and young children aged 24 months and below and height of 80 cm and below" to "textile products worn or used by infants and young children aged 36 months and below and height of 100 cm and below", It is also stipulated that the product implementation standard (including the year) must be marked on the product tag, and the safety technology category implemented by the product must be marked according to the requirements of GB18401 standard. This means that children's clothing under the age of three must meet the requirements of Class A standards, and the clothing tag should be marked with "infant products, Class A, GB18401 2010" and other words.

The executive standards of children's clothes on sale vary

Under the new regulations, how about the current situation of infant clothing on the market in Wuzhou? The reporter visited the market and found that quite a number of businesses in the city are still selling infant clothing that does not meet the new standard.

In a baby clothing store in Hengye Cathay Plaza, the clerk recommended several clothes suitable for children under three years old to the reporter. The reporter noticed that the labels of these clothes contain formaldehyde, PH content, fabric composition and other information, but the executive standards are outdated "Class B GB18401 2003, GB18401 2006" and other words. "It doesn't matter which standard it is, as long as it is pure cotton and the children are comfortable," explained some shop assistants.

At the same time, the reporter found that some businesses that know the new standard are promoting their inventory. Liao Ling, a salesperson, told the reporter that because the new regulations have a one-year buffer period, many garment manufacturers have already produced according to the new regulations, and most of the children's clothes that do not conform to the new regulations currently sold in the market are in stock.

Compared with franchised stores, the information of children's clothing tags in wholesale markets or some small stores is more "concise". In a children's clothing store in Wenhua Center, most of the children's clothing tags are only marked with the number of yards or "suggested retail price" and other words.
