"Classicism and Fashion - Stage Costume Exhibition of the National Grand Theater" has attracted many visitors since it was launched on July 3. In order to let the audience know more about stage costumes, the National Grand Theater specially invited Professor Zhao Weiyue from the Department of Stage Arts of the Central Academy of Drama to give a lecture entitled "Reference for Stage Costume Design".

Professor Zhao Weiyue, centering on the theme of "reference", used the means of clothing reference in history; Reference means used in different types of clothing; Source of reference elements; Mode of reference; As well as the problems arising from the reference, this paper makes an in-depth interpretation of the stage costumes from these five aspects. In the lecture, Professor Zhao Weiyue also showed two dolls used in teaching at the Central Academy of Drama to explain the design details of Western skirts. It is reported that "Classicism and Fashion - Stage Costume Exhibition of the National Grand Theater" will be held until August 6.

80 sets of home-made costumes of the Grand Theater

Since the founding of the National Grand Theater, it has launched 24 original and self-made plays, each of which employs professional costume designers to design costumes. Up to now, it has accumulated more than 4000 sets of self-made drama costumes.

The exhibition selected nearly 80 costumes from the 4000 plus costumes, including the starring costumes of Turandot, Rigoletto, Love's Glycol, Zhao's Orphan, Canal Ballad, Wangfujing, Jane Eyre, etc.

From the silk, embroidery, buttons, dragon and phoenix patterns used in traditional Chinese clothing, to the pointed Ening hat, long skirts, tights with different colors of trouser legs, tops decorated with asymmetric patterns in the 13th and 15th century Gothic clothing, to the 19th century Victorian style lace, yarn, ruffles, ribbons, bows, multi-level cake cutting, wrinkles, and folds, From the exhibition, the audience can see not only the gorgeous design and exquisite workmanship of the designers, but also the clothing characteristics reflected in different periods of Chinese and foreign clothing, and can also feel the expression of clothing to stories and the pursuit of beauty.
