Ministry Of Commerce Issued "Outline For Development Of Silkworm And Silk Industry" In 12Th Five-Year.

Recently, the Ministry of Commerce's National Cocoon Silk Coordination Office released the "12th Five-Year" development of the cocoon and silk industry.

The outline is clear, first of all, to maintain the industry.

The "Outline" pointed out that during the "11th Five-Year" period, China's cocoon and silk industry actively responded to the adverse effects, and the industry development remained basically stable.

By the end of 11th Five-Year, the operation index of China's cocoon and silk industry basically recovered to the level of "early 11th Five-Year", and the industry appeared to accelerate recovery.

In 2010, the national silkworm area reached 12 million 21 thousand mu, the cocoon production was 649 thousand tons, and the raw silk production was 162 thousand tons, respectively 3.7%, 5.4% and 30%, respectively, compared with 2005.

The "east to West Movement" has achieved remarkable results and the regional structure has been further optimized.

By the end of 2010, the proportion of mulberry fields and raw silk production in the central and western regions (excluding Qinghai and Tibet) increased by 10.1 and 23 percentage points respectively compared with that in 2005, and the industrial base was further consolidated.

Scientific and technological popularization and technological innovation have been steadily advancing, and the pace of industrial upgrading has been accelerated.

The market structure has been adjusted and the marketing environment has been improved.

The construction of silk culture has been accelerated and the brand influence has been further enhanced.

The outline emphasizes that during the "12th Five-Year" period, we should optimize the industrial regional layout, promote the coordinated development of the eastern, central and western regions, improve the level of sericultural production, consolidate the foundation for the development of the industry, upgrade the level of industrial technology and equipment, enhance the core competitiveness of the industry, improve the public service platform, upgrade the quality of the operation of the industry, speed up the comprehensive utilization of R & D technology, improve the efficiency of resource utilization, co-ordinate the two markets at home and abroad, expand the trade channels, promote the national characteristics, and create the brand of Chinese silk.

At present, China's cocoon and silk industry is in an important period of strategic opportunity. It also faces challenges such as rising prices of production factors, increasing competition and exchange rate risks.

At present, the foundation of cocoon agriculture in China is still not solid, and the key technology and equipment development of silk industry needs to be improved. The development of silk brand is lagging behind, the development of domestic silk market and international emerging export market is insufficient, the ability to resist domestic and foreign market risks is weak, and the level of market operation regulation needs to be improved.
