Wenzhou Export Leather Shoes Unit Price Increase, Export Is Not "Blowout"

The EU has imposed anti-dumping duties on China's leather shoes for a month.

Reporters learned yesterday that, in April, the number of leather shoes exported to Europe in Wenzhou did not show a "blowout" phenomenon, but the average unit price appeared for the first time since 2008, with an average price of 11.20 US dollars, an increase of 17.89% compared with the same period last year, and the annulus ratio increased by 6.56%.

According to statistics from Wenzhou entry exit inspection and Quarantine Bureau, in April, the export of leather shoes in our city amounted to 5 million 88 thousand double and 60 million 800 thousand dollars.

The EU's 1 million 464 thousand double and 16 million 390 thousand US dollars increased by 5% and 24.1% respectively, representing a steady development trend.

When the EU anti-dumping duty ended in March 31st, the industry once worried that the export of EU leather shoes would be "blowout".

As far as the export growth rate of our city is concerned, it is not enough for the "blowout" level.

However, in some shoe companies such as giant one and AOKANG, the volume of orders exported to the EU has increased significantly this year.

For example, the giant one group, as the only two exporters in the footwear export industry of the whole province, has an export volume of 100 million US dollars. With the end of the EU anti-dumping, the order customers of leather shoes increased significantly. According to statistics, only 500 thousand pairs of leather shoes orders were exported to the company in the first quarter of this year, and last year, only 600 thousand pairs of leather shoes were exported.

The group's orders for exports to the European Union also increased significantly, such as the GEOX brand's growth in AOKANG's orders in the first quarter of this year increased by nearly 70% over the same period last year.

Some people in the industry pointed out that from the order to the shipment generally lasted for two or three months, taking into account this time difference, the EU's anti-dumping impact on the increase of orders may be reflected in the actual export volume in 5 and June.

The end of the case, but the number of leather shoes exported to Wenzhou will still be limited.

To explore the reason, on the one hand, for EU buyers, the average unit price of leather shoes exported to Europe in April increased by 17.89% compared with the same period last year. Compared with 16.5% anti-dumping duties, it meant that the end of the anti-dumping duty did not reduce the purchasing cost, but increased slightly, thus limiting the part of the willingness to expand procurement.

On the other hand, Wenzhou's export shoe companies have also narrowed their profit margins due to higher costs, thus restricting their willingness to further develop the European market.

Reporters learned that although the export average unit price has increased, but its growth is far behind the increase of raw materials and labor costs, while the exchange rate changes also make the profit margins for European shoe companies to shrink further.

Overall, the average unit price of leather shoes exported to Europe in Wenzhou is still lower than the average unit price of Wenzhou exported leather shoes.
