Customs statistics show that in 2010, the total volume of import and export trade between Wenzhou and ASEAN reached 1 billion 160 million US dollars, an increase of 23.63% over the same period. ASEAN has replaced Russia as the third largest trading partner in Wenzhou.

The top three imported commodities were nickel ore, natural rubber and acyclic alcohol. The three commodities were taxed at 114 million US dollars in 2010, an increase of 44.4% over the same period last year.

The Wenzhou customs actively optimizes regulatory services, implements the tariff preferential policies of China ASEAN Free Trade Area, strengthens enterprises' support, and guides enterprises to have the policy requirements of tariff preferences and certificate of origin application for enterprises with import and export business with ASEAN countries, and makes good use of preferential policies.

According to the person in charge of a leather chemical company in Wenzhou, Ouhai, in 2010, nearly 1500 tons of leather auxiliaries were used in their production. All of them were imported from Singapore and fully enjoyed the zero tariff preferential policy of the ASEAN Free Trade Area.
