The Euro Edged Up &Nbsp; &Nbsp; The US Dollar Exchange Rate Continued To Drop By 0.15% On Friday.

On Friday morning, Beijing time, on Friday, investors continued to assess a number of mixed economic data from the United States.

A number of data released earlier on Friday showed that industrial output in the US was stronger than expected, but inflation in the same period also increased unexpectedly.

The consumer confidence index later showed that US consumers' confidence in November was unexpectedly down.

At the close of the foreign exchange market, the US dollar index for tracking six major currencies was 79.07 points, or 0.15%.

The index fell to 78.806 on Friday morning, a drop of more than 2% in a week.

The euro closed at $1.3358, or 0.07%, and fell to $1.3314 in intraday trading.

Tyse, President of the European Central Bank, said the central bank's decision makers are ready to counter recent inflation expectations to maintain price stability.

But Trichet also insisted that the current ECB interest rate decision is "appropriate".

The US dollar closed at 83 yen, up 0.21%.

Japanese Prime Minister Naoto Kan has appointed Kaoru Yosano as the new minister of economy and finance, but this news hardly has any impact on the foreign exchange market.

In other currencies, the pound traded against the US dollar at $1.5880, or 0.31%, while the Australian dollar closed at 98.95 cents, down 0.92%.
