China's Coal Transport Capacity

In December 10th, China Rails ministry Economic planning A senior leader of the research institute said at the 2011 Annual strategy meeting of CITIC, it is estimated that by the end of 2015, the total capacity of China's railways will reach 45 billion tons. Coal transportation capacity 24 million tons; by 2020, China's railway transport capacity can reach 60 billion tons, of which 32 tons of coal transport capacity.

The above said, "at that time, the shortage of coal transport capacity will be eased."

The official website of the Ministry of Railways shows that in 2009, the total volume of railway freight transport was 33.2 million tons, of which the total volume of railway coal transmission was 17.5 million tons.

"The railway projects approved for 2005-2010 years are still in the construction stage and are expected to be completed in early 2012 to 2013, so the 2011-2012 year railway capacity is still relatively tight." The above said.

He also said that direct rail transport and rail water intermodal transport are the trend of railway development in the future. The distance between 600-1000 kilometers is suitable for direct railway transportation, the relative cost is relatively low, and over 1500 km is suitable for rail water intermodal transportation, which can reduce relative costs.

Li Junsong, a coal analyst at CITIC, said at the same time that at present, the coal transportation channel is in a period of concentrated large-scale construction. The west coal and winter transportation is still relatively tight before 2013, and there will be no big capacity in the next two years.

At the same time, Li Junsong said that there were few outlets for the exit of the Mongolian railway. By 2013, the railway transport in Inner Mongolia basically meets the needs of the western region, and expects to transport 3.8 million tons of coal throughout the year. By 2014, it will ensure that the western region expects to meet the annual coal demand of 4.2 million tons.

China has three major coal transportation passageways: the first channel, the Daqin line is mainly transported by coal, mainly from Qinhuangdao; the second channel Shenshuo yellow line is mainly transported by Shenyang Dongsheng coal, mainly from Huanghua port; the new third channel will take Inner Mongolia West, northern Shaanxi and Ningdong as the coal gathering hinterland, mainly from Caofeidian. The first phase of the third channel project has been started. The main channel is located in Zhungeer of Ordos. The terminal port is located in Caofeidian, Tangshan. It is divided into three phases, and the future development plan is 2 million tons of coal.
