The government of the Sri Lankan government focused on supporting industries. At the beginning of last year, the Sri Lankan government issued an export incentive policy to stimulate the development of export trade: the export revenue of the export enterprises reached 90% of the 2008 revenue and the employees could not be abolished, so they could receive the financial reward equivalent to 5% of their income from the government.

At that time, the policy was only applicable to the export of leather products.

Unlike anti-dumping duties, Sri Lanka products can enter EU countries with zero tariff.

The Sri Lankan government also announced that it would allow imports of machinery and raw materials to produce leather products with zero tariffs. In addition, Sri Lanka has signed free trade agreements with two neighboring markets, namely India and Pakistan.

With the favourable external conditions, the Sri Lankan government hopes to strengthen its own construction and promote its cooperation with China.
