The women seem to have an indissoluble bond with high heels.

But a new study finds that wearing high heels may cause bone.

Arthritis

Researchers at Iowa State University studied the effects of walking on high-heeled shoes to lower extremity joints.

They found that this beautiful shoe would carry shockwaves from the heel to the body and form tremendous pressure inside the knees.

Wearing high heels for a long time may cause joint degeneration.

Danielle Bakema, who is in charge of the research at Iowa State University, said: "according to the research conclusion, wearing high-heeled shoes will make people face greater risk of osteoarthritis.

The higher the heel, the greater the risk.

Ms. Bakema chose 3 shoes with different heel heights -- flat bottom, 2 inches and 3.5 inches, and 15 women were given walking tests.

Using sensors, accelerators and laboratory devices such as dynamometer platforms and cameras, she can capture data on movement and force and use them to draw conclusions that may change the way women choose their shoes.

Although there were also studies on the effects of high-heeled shoes on joints, the Iowa State University study found that heel height changed walking characteristics, such as slower speed and shorter pace.

The higher the heel, the greater the pressure inside the knees.

Bakema said: "walking on high heels and wearing high heels for a long time will cause joint degeneration and knee osteoarthritis."

The report will be published at the annual meeting of the American Society of biomechanics at Brown University.

Professor Phil Martin, who is working with Mr Ba Ma, said: "I think the conclusion of" Ba Ma Ma "is very accurate.

Wearing high heels often puts people at risk. The higher the heels, the greater the risk. "

Ms. Bakema also found that wearing high-heeled shoes, especially 2 inches tall or higher shoes, would change the posture of the ankle by changing the joint position of the ankle, knee, buttocks and body, which would cause stress on the lower back.

"This change is visually obvious," she said. "The posture of people wearing high-heeled shoes has changed.

In the study, we noticed changes in these body positions and various joint angles, such as knee angle and ankle angle.

The biggest change on the ankle. "

Bakema's research was inspired by twin sister Ashley. Bakema said, "a few years ago, Ashley began to work as a sales manager in a department store in Chicago.

She and most of her colleagues wear high heels every day.

She noticed that many women, especially those who wear high heels regularly, have serious problems such as knees and hips.

Bakema said she did not recommend that women refrain from high-heeled shoes.

"I told my friends to try their best to wear shoes and moderate high heels," she said. "If possible, wear lower shoes."
